Club Companion Card Member News – February 2012 edition (Word 27KB)

This month we are featuring the coastal Coffs Harbour region, as a place to visit and use your Companion Card.

Coffs Harbour LGA (shaded)

Sub-tropical Coffs Harbour is a coastal city located on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, about 540 km (340 miles) north of Sydney, 385 km (240 miles) north of Newcastle, and 440 km (275 miles) south of Brisbane.

Coffs Harbour is also one of many regional cities along the Pacific Highway between Newcastle and the Gold Coast. The city's close proximity to the centre of the New South Wales’ mid and north coast’s makes it a comfortable drive from either ends of the highway.

The surrounding region is dominated by coastal resorts and apartments with hinterland hills and mountains covered by tropical forests, banana plantations, and other farms. It is the only place in New South Wales where the Great Dividing Range meets the Pacific Ocean.

Included are details of places where the Card is accepted – Pet Porpoise Pool, Big Banana, Coffs Harbour Butterfly House and more. If you are planning a day-trip or would like to stay overnight, we have included some suggested itineraries.

Previous regional spotlights

In September we featured the picturesque Wagga Wagga region, as a place to visit and use your Companion Card.

Wagga Wagga LGA (shaded)

Wagga Wagga is located midway between the two largest cities in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne.

Wagga Wagga is at the eastern end of the NSW Riverina region where the slopes of the Great Dividing Range flatten and form the Riverina Plain.

The city spans the Murrumbidgee River, one of the great rivers of the Murray-Darling Basin and the city centre itself is located on the southern bank, protected by a levee from potential flooding.

Included are details of where the Card is accepted, as well as a range of special deals available to cardholders, such as places to stay and places to eat.

If you are planning a day-trip or would like to stay overnight, we have included some suggested itineraries.

We will continue to feature other regions over the next year - the Companion Card team.
